Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 (MT-452)

Messerschmitt Bf 109 on ilmailuhistorian eniten valmistettu hävittäjälentokone ja tunnetuin saksalainen hävittäjälentokone. Koneen ensilento tapahtui 28.5.1935. Kaikkiaan konetta valmistettiin kaikki alamuunnokset huomioiden arviolta 36 000 kpl. Messerschmitt Bf 109 G pääsi tuotantoon vuonna 1942 ja kaikkiaan G-alatyyppiä valmistettiin noin 23 000 kpl. Suomi sai ostaa 30 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 -konetta Leningradin saartorenkaan murruttua tammikuussa 1944. Myöhemmin ostettiin lisää 82 G-6- ja kolme G-8-konetta. Messerschmitt Bf 109G -hävittäjillä saavutettiin jatkosodassa 663 ilmavoittoa. Viimeinen lento tyypillä lennettiin 13.3.1954. MT-452 luovutettiin havaintovälineeksi Lentosotakoulun tekniselle henkilökunnalle ja säästyi siten romutukselta. Kone oli 1960-luvulla muistomerkkinä Santahaminassa. Kone entisöitiin 1960-luvun lopulla ja sijoitettiin vuonna 1970 muistomerkiksi Uttiin. Kone sai suojakseen vuonna 1982 vitriinin. Kone ja vitriini kunnostettiin vuonna 1998.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is the holder of the production record for fighters. It is the best known Goerman WWII fighter. The prototype of Bf 109 took air first time on May 28th 1935. The total production including all versions was about 36 000 aircraft. The production of Messerschmitt Bf 109 G started in 1942 and the total production was about 23 000 aircraft. Finland bought 30 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 fighters in January 1944 after the siege of Leningrad breaked. Later Finland bought 82 additionalk G-6s and three G-8s. The pilots claimed 663 kills by Messerschmitt Bf 109G. The last flight of the type was on March 13th 1954. MT-452 was handed over to Air Force Academy for instructional use and therefore it survived. The aircraft was used as a monument during the 1960s in Santahamina near Helsinki. The aircraft restored at the end of 1960s. In 1970 it was put to a monument at Utti. The aircraft got a display cabinet in 1982. The aircraft and its display cabinet were restored in 1998.
