Nieuport 17

Ranskalaisen Nieuport-hävittäjäsarjan tunnetuin ja eniten rakennettu tyyppi oli Nieuport 17. Se perustui Nieuport 11- ja Nieuport 16 -hävittäjiin. Nieuport 17 tuli käyttöön länsirintamalla maaliskuussa 1916 ja alkoi poistua käytöstä kesällä 1917. Konetta rakennettiin Ranskassa vuoden 1917 loppuun saakka. Konetta valmistettiin myös Venäjällä, Italiassa ja Englannissa. Suomen valkoinen armeija sai keväällä 1918 haltuunsa kaksi Nieuport 17 -konetta. Tunnuksen 1.C.452 saanut kone tuhoutui 18.5.1920 ja tunnuksen 1.D.453 saanut kone poistettiin käytöstä 5.2.1925 meillä 34 tuntia lentäneenä.

The best known and the most produced type of the Nieuport fighter series is the Nieuport 17. It bases on Nieuport 11 and 16 fighters. Nieuport 17 came into use at the Western Front in March 1916 and it became obsolete in summer 1917. The aircraft was in production in France until end of the year 1917. Additionally, the aircraft was in production in Russia, Italy and England. The Finland White Army captured two Nieuport 17s during the spring 1918. One got marking 1.C.452 and it destroyed on May 18th 1920. Another got marking 1.D.453 and it was written off on February 5th 1925. It had 34 hours flight time.
