VL Sääski I (SÄ-95)

Sääski suunniteltiin ja sen protyyppi rakennettiin yksityisrahoituksella vaihtoehdoksi de Havilland Moth -koneelle. Suunnittelutyön ja prototyypin rakentamisen teki Osakeyhtiö Sääski. Prototyyppi lensi ensilennon 27.2.1928. Vaikka Ilmailuvoimat oli hankkinut de Havilland Mothin valmistuslisenssin, se osti Sääsken prototyypin ja tilasi myöhemmin myös parannettua VL Sääski II -konetta.

Kone on prototyyppi.

Kone on varastoituna Suomen Ilmavoimamuseossa. Kone on entisöimätön ja siivet puuttuvat.


Sääski (Mosquito) was designed and its prototype was built in private in order to give an alternative for de Havilland Moth. The maiden flight of prototype was in February 27th, 1928. Although the Finnish Air Force bought a licence to build de Havilland Moth, the Finnish Air Force bought the prototype of Sääski and ordered later enhanced VL Sääski II aircraft from the State Aircraft Factory.

The aircraft is a prototype.

The aircraft is stored at the Finnish Air Force Museum. The aircraft is unrestored and without wings.
