MY-14:n siiven kokoaminen alkoi | Assembly of wing started in VL Myrsky II restoration project

Tiistaina 17.10.2017 VL Myrsky II -entisöintiprojekti saavutti tärkeän virstanpylvään, kun MY-14:n toisen siipipuoliskon siipisalot kiinnitettiin asennusjigiin ja ensimmäisen siipikaaret kiinnitettiin paikoilleen Ilmailumuseoyhdistyksen Tiistaikerhossa Suomen Ilmailumuseon entisöintitilassa Vantaalla.

Tätä virstanpylvästä on edeltänyt vuosien mittainen ja tuhansia vapaaehtoistunteja vaatinut työrupeama, jossa tehtiin salkojen ja kaarien aihiot sekä koottiin niistä osia siiven kokoamistyötä varten. Unohtaa ei pidä myöskään satojen tuntien työtä, jotka Vantaan osaprojektin projektipäällikkö Matti Patteri on käyttänyt esimerkiksi piirustusten muuttamiseen siipikaarien leikkaustiedostoiksi tai erilaisten jigien tekoon.

The VL Myrsky II restoration project reached an important milestone on Tuesday October 17th 2017 when the spars of the another half of the MY-14´s wing fixed in the installation jig. Some central parts of the ribs were assembled to the spars, too. The milestone was reached in the Tuesday Club of the Aviation Museum Society in the restoration space at the Finnish Aviation Museum in Vantaa.

The production of the semifinished parts of the wing spars and ribs as well as the finishing them to components has required time more than two years and thousands voluntary working hours. It is imporant to remember that Mr Matti Patteri (the project manager of the Vantaa workshop) has spend hundreds working hours by converting drawings to the files for laser cutting machine or by building the jigs.
