MY-14:n osat ovat nyt kaikki Tikkakoskella, joten projektin loppumetrien tahdit tulevat sieltä. Olosuhteet johtivat julkistuksen siirtymiseen vuodelle 2025, eikä sitä kannattane ihan alkuvuonna odotella.

MY-14:n siipipuoliskot laskutelineineen, vakauttimet ja öljynjäähdytin siirtyivät Puolustusvoimien kuljetuksella Tikkakoskelle 18.–19.9.2024. Alun perin siiven piti mennä rungon tilalle Haklog Ky:n tiloihin maalattavaksi, mutta siiven siirron myöhästyminen ja tarpeelliset viimeistelytoimenpiteet johtivat siihen, että tila ei ollut enää käytettävissä.

VL Myrsky II -entisöintiprojektin johtoryhmä päätti kokouksessaan 21.10.2024, että MY-14:n lopputyöt tehdään kunnolla siitä huolimatta, että koneen valmistuminen siirtyy vuoden 2025 puolelle. Samana päivänä MY-14:n runko siirtyi maalauksesta Suomen Ilmavoimamuseon näyttelyhalliin sille paikalle, missä se tullaan kokoamaan. MY-14:n rungolle on jo tehty muutostyöt, jotka sille tehtiin 21.8–9.10.1944 Tampereella sen jälkeen, kun koneesta oli Mensuvaarassa löytynyt vaurioita. Jäljellä on rungonkin osalta merkintämaalausten tekoa sekä moottorin vaippalevyn yläosan valmistaminen ja sovittaminen sekä näiden maalaustyöt.

Nyt vuorossa ovat viimeistelytyöt siivelle, jotta se saadaan sovitettua runkoon ja kainalopelteihin sekä maalattua. Maalaustyön ajankohdan määrää näiden töiden valmistumisen lisäksi maalaustilan käytettävissä oleminen, ja se tulee sijoittumaan alkuvuoteen 2025.

Rungon vihreän ja sinisen maalauksen jälkeen päästiin maalaamaan mustaa runkoon ja vakaimiin. MY-14:n runko siirrettiin Haklog Ky:n tiloista kokoamispaikalleen Suomen Ilmavoimamuseon näyttelyhalliin molempien organisaatioiden henkilökunnan voimin 21.10.2024. All the parts of the VL Myrsky II fighter MY-14 are presently at Tikkakoski, where the pace for the final spurt of the project will be set. Due to circumstances, the public debut will be delayed until the year 2025, and it might not be expected quite at the beginning of the year.

The MY-14 wing halves with the landing gear, stabilizers and oil cooler were transported by the Defence Forces to Tikkakoski from 18-19 September 2024. Originally, the wing was planned to follow the fuselage for painting at the premises of Haklog Ky, but the delay of its transfer and the necessary measures of final touch caused the painting workspace not being available anymore.

The executive group of the VL Myrsky II restoration project decided in its meeting on 21 October 2024 that the final work on the MY-14 will be properly done, despite of its completion being delayed until the year 2025. On the same day, the fuselage of the MY-14 was transferred from its painting to the spot at the display hall of the Finnish Air Force Museum, where it will be assembled. The modifications done to the fuselage of the MY-14, made in Tampere from 21 August until 9 October 1944, after damage had been spotted at the Mensuvaara base, have been completed already. Remaining jobs on the fuselage are painting the identification markings plus producing and fitting of the upper engine cowling with the associated paint job.

Current tasks of final touch are the adjustments made to fit the wing into the fuselage and wing root fairings, with the paint job. Timing of the painting will depend on both the completion of these tasks and on the availability of the painting workspace, and it will be scheduled to early 2025.
