VL D 27 Haukka II

Suomen Ilmavoimat tilasi Valtion Lentokonetehtaalta 22.9.1927 kaksi I.V.L. D 26 Haukka I:n parannettua prototyyppiä. Ensimmäinen VL D 27 Haukka II -prototyypeistä (HA-40) lensi ensilennon 1.3.1928. Kone todettiin Gloster Gamecock II -vertailukoneen kanssa suurin piirtein tasaveroisiksi. Siitä huolimatta Suomen Ilmavoimat päätti hankkia 28.3.1928 Gloster Gamecock II -mallikoneen ja 15 koneen valmistuslisenssin. VL D 27 Haukka II:n toinen prototyyppi (HA-41) lensi ensilentonsa 8.8.1928. Koneet poistettiin käytöstä 1.7.1933.

The Finnish Air Force ordered two enhanced prototypes of I.V.L. D 26 Haukka I. The first prototype of VL D 27 Haukka II (HA-40) took air on March 1st, 1928. The comparison to the British Gloster Gamecock II proved both aircraft quite equivalent. However, the Finnish Air Force ordered a pattern aircraft and licence to build 15 Gamecocks on March 28th, 1928. The second prototype of the VL D 27 Haukka II took air on August 8th, 1928. Both aircraft wrote off on July 1st, 1933.
