de Havilland D.H.60X Moth

Brittiläinen de Havilland -lentokonetehdas suunnitteli kevyen kaksipaikkaisen Moth-koneen harrastusilmailukäyttöön. Koneen ensilento tapahtui 22.2.1925. Koneesta tuli 1930-luvun suosituin pienkone Euroopassa. Vuonna 1927 tuotantoon tuli parannettu D.H.60X-versio. Alkuperäinen puurunkoinen Moth oli tuotannossa vuosina 1925-1934 ja koneita valmistui yli tuhat. Valtion Lentokonetehdas hankki Mothin valmistuslisenssin vuonna 1928 ja rakensi 21 Mothia vuosina 1929-1930, joista 18 Suomen Ilmavoimille. Myös Veljekset Karhumäki Oyrakensi kaksi Mothia. OH-EJA valmistui Valtion Lentokonetehtaalta 1929. Koneen omisti Viipurin Ilmapuolustysyhdistys. Kone vaurioitui pahoin vuonna 1933. Veljekset Karhumäki Oykunnosti yksityisomistukseen siirtyneen koneen vuonna 1934 ja sillä lennettiin vuoteen 1956 saakka.

British de Havilland Aircraft Company developed a light two-seat Moth for flying clubs. The maiden flight was February 22nd 1925. The aircraft was the most popular light aircraft in Europe during the 1930s. Teh production of enhanced D.H.60X version started in 1927. The original Moth with wooden fuselage was in the production 1925-1934 and the production was over 1,000 aircraft. The State Aircraft Factory acquired the manufacturin licence of the Moth in 1928. It built 21 Moths in 1929-1930 and 18 of them delivered to the Finnish Air Force. Veljekset Karhumäki Oy built two Moths. The State Aircraft Factory delivered OH-EJA to the Vyborg Air Defence Society in 1929. The aircraft damaged seriously in 1933 and it was sold to private owner. Veljekset Karhumäki Oy repaired aircraft in 1934 and it flew until 1956.
