Polikarpov Po-2

Polikarpov U-2 (vuodesta 1944 lähtien Polikarpov Po-2) on neuvostoliittolainen yleiskäyttöinen kaksitasoinen ja yksimoottorinen lentokone, jota valmistettiin 1928-1959 noin 30 000 kpl. Se on maailman eniten valmistettu kaksitasoinen lentokone. Konetta käytettiin mm. yöpommittajana toisessa maailmansodassa. Jatkosodassa saatiin saaliiksi neljä Polikarpov U-2 -konetta, joita käytettiin yhteyskoneina vuosina 1942-1945. Niistä yksikään ei säilynyt. Sen sijaan säilynyt on yksilö, joka saatiin sotasaaliiksi talvisodassa ja jota ei koskaan ole käytetty Suomen Ilmavoimissa.

The Polikarpov U-2 (from 1944 onwards the Polikarpov Po-2) is a Soviet general purpose single-engine biplane. It was in production 1928-1959 and some 30 000 aircraft were built. The aircraft was used as a night-bomber during the WWII. The Finland Air Force took four Polikarpov U-2s as war booty during the Continuation War and used them as liaison planes 1942-1945. None of them survived. Instead of them, one U-2 survived. The Finland Air Force took it as war booty during the Winter War but did not use it.
