VL Pyry (PY-5)

VL Pyry on kaksipaikkainen harjoitushävittäjä, joka suunniteltiin ja valmistettiin Valtion Lentokonetehtaalla Tampereella. Koneen prototyypin ensilento tapahtui 29.3.1939. Konetyyppiä rakennettiin 40 kpl vuosina 1939-1941. Koneet palvelivat Suomen Ilmavoimissa jatkokoulutuskoneina ja yhteyskoneina vuosina 1939-1962.

PY-5 lensi ensimmäisen kerran 27.1.1941. Kone meni startissa ympäri Vesivehmaalla 13.10.1941. 28.3.1952 kone rullasi SZ-28:n pyrstöön ja hallin oveen Kauhavalla. 10.7.1957 kone meni pakkolaskussa ympäri Kauhavalla. Poistettiin 18.12.1958.

Kone on varastoituna Suomen Ilmavoimamuseossa. Kone on runkokehikon käsittävä hylky.

VL Pyry is a two-seat fighter trainer designed and built by the State Aircraft Factory at Tampere. The first flight of the prototype took place on March 29th 1939. 40 Pyrys were built 1939-1941. They were used as advanced trainers and as liaision aircraft 1939-1962.

The PY-5 flew first time on January 27th 1941. The aircraft damaged in take-off at Vesivehmaa on October 13th 1941. It crashed with the tail of SZ-28 and the door of the hangar at Kauhava on March 28th 1952. The aircraft carshed in forged landing at Kauhava on July 10th 1957. The PY-5 was written off on December 18th 1958.
