Valmet L-90 Redigo (OH-VTP)

1980-luvun alussa päätettiin Valmet Oy:n Kuoreveden tehtaalla lähteä kehittämään Valmet L-70:n pohjalta nelipaikkaista jatkokoulutus- ja yhteyskonetta, joka olisi nopeampi ja varustettu potkuriturbiinilla ja sisäänvedettävällä laskutelineellä. Valmet L-80 Military Traineriksi nimetty prototyyppi lensi ensilentonsa 12.2.1985. Kone joutui oikeamattomaan syöksykierteeseen ja tuhoutui 24.4.1985. Onnettomuus vaati molempien lentäjien hengen. Takaiskusta huolimatta koneen kehittelyä jatkettiin ja tuloksena oli Valmet L-90 Redigo. Suomen Ilmavoimat osti 10 Redigoa, jotka toimitettiin 1991-1993. Lisäksi konetta myytiin ulkomaille noin 30 kpl, mm. Eritreaan ja Meksikoon.

Redigon prototyyppi sijoitettiin vitriiniin syksyllä 2011.

Valmet Oy decided to start derive a four-seat advanced trainer and liaison aircraft by using the Valmet L-70 Miltrainer as a basis. The new construction would be faster and equipped with a turboprop and a retractable undercarriage. The prototype of Valmet L-80 Military Trainer flew first time on February 12th 1985. The prototype destroyed on April 24th 1985 due to non-recoverable spin. Both pilots killed in the accident. The development of the aircraft continued and the result was the Valmet L-90 Redigo. The Finnish Air Force bought 10 Redigos and about 30 were sold to abroad, for examble to Eritrea and Mexico.

The prototype of the Redigo was put in a display cabinet in Fall 2011.
