Polikarpov I-16 Type 15 (UTI-4)

Polikarpov UTI-4 on kaksipaikkainen versio Polikarpov I-16 -hävittäjästä, joka lensi ensilentonsa 31.12.1933. UTI-4-koneet kehitettiin Polikarpov I-16 tyyppi 10:n pohjalta. Kaikkiaan kaksipaikkaisia Polikarpov I-16 -koneita rakennettiin Neuvostoliitossa 3 395 kappaletta vuoteen 1942 mennessä. Suomalaiset saivat yhden Polikarpov UTI-4 -koneen sotasaaliiksi vuonna 1941. Konetta käytettiin tutustumis- ja koulutustarkoituksiin 11.9.1942 saakka, jolloin kone varastoitiin. Kone poistettiin 9.8.1944. Konetta säilytettiin Vesivehmaalla, kunnes se entisöitiin Tampereella vuosina 1982-1983.

Kone on ainoa alkuperäinen säilynyt tyyppinsä edustaja maailmassa.

Polikarpov UTI-4 is a two-seat version of Polikarpov I-16 monoplane fighter which made the first flight on December 31st 1933. UTI-4 is a derivate of Polikarpov I-16 Type 10. The number of produced two-seat Polikarpov I-16 aircraft was 3 395. The Finnish army captured one Polikarpov UTI-4 in 1941. It was used for educational purposes until Septermbe 11th 1942, when it was stored. The aircraft was written of August 9th 1944. The aircraft was stored at Vesivehmaa until it was restored at Tampere 1982-1983.

The aircraft is the sole original survivor of its type in the World.
