Mil Mi-1 (OH-HRC)

Neuvostoliittolaisen Mikhail Milinin suunnittelema helikopteri GM-1 lensi ensilentonsa 20.9.1948. Korean sodan kokemusten seurauksena kopteri otettiin sarjavalmistukseen nimellä Mi-1 vuonna 1952. Helikopteria valmistettiin Neuvostoliitossa vuosina 1952-1960 noin 1 000 kpl ja WSK Svednik -tehtailla Puolassa vuosina 1956-1965 noin 1 600 kpl tyyppimerkinnällä SM-1. Suomen Ilmavoimat hankki vuonna 1961 neljä SM-1 -helikopteria. Ne palvelivat vuoteen 1966. Rajavartiolaitoksella oli yksi Mil Mi-1M -helikopteri ja kaksi SM-1S/600 -sairaankuljetushelikopteria vuosina 1960-1968.

Neuvostoliitto lahjoitti Mil Mi-1M -helikopterin presidentti Urho Kekkoselle tämän 60-vuotislahjaksi. Kopteri saapui maahan 5.12.1960 ja palveli Rajavartiolaitoksella tunnuksella OH-HRC vuoteen 1968.

The GM-1 helicopter designed by Soviet Mikhail Milin flew first time on September 20th 1948. As a result of the experiences in Korean War, the helicopter type put in the serial production as Mi-1 in 1952. The total production in Soviet Union 1952-1960 was about 1 000 helicopters and Polish WSK Svednik built 1 600 helicopters using type marking SM-1 1956-1965. The Finnish Air Force acquired four SM-1s in 1961. They served until 1966. The Border Guard has one Mil Mi-1M and two SM-1S/600s in service 1960-1968.

Soviet Union gave one Mil Mi-1M helicopter as a gift when President Urho Kekkonen had his 60th birthday. The helicopted arrived to Finland on December 5th 1960. The helicopter served as a OH-HRC in the Border Guard until 1968.
