Aviation Museum Society's logos were painted on the stairsTorstai 13.8.2026 - Ismo Matinlauri We had planned to paint the Aviation Museum Society Finland logo on the Caravelle’s boarding stairs already last year. A stencil was specially made for this purpose, but it eventually waited for another year before being used. This autumn, while the weather still allowed it, we decided to paint the missing logos on two sets of stairs. The logos on the DC-3/C-47 (DO-5) stairs were painted already in the Pansio shipyard hall, which we rented in winter 2022-23. Logos of the same size were planned to be painted on both of Caravelle’s boarding stairs, but other work kept us busy last year. All the remaining original batches of Teknos two-component paints had been stored untouched for two years before they were needed. The paints had been kept in a warm place, so they were still usable despite the long storage period.
Attaching the stencil and painting the logo on the service door stair was done in windy conditions, which made the work considerably more difficult. Therefore we decided to postpone painting the logo on the passenger door stair until better weather.
The passenger door stair logos were then painted the following week in calmer weather.
At the same time the worn areas on the stairs, donated by Inter Handling, were touched up with blue paint. Photos: Jouko Tarponen Translation to English: Erja Reinikainen |
